Is travel insurance required to enter St. Maarten?
To enter St. Maarten, all international travelers must fill out a health pre-authorization application through an Electronic Health Authorization System (EHAS). In addition, the government of St. Maarten requires international travelers to purchase mandatory COVID-19 insurance as part of the EHAS application. Without filling out the EHAS application and opting into the COVID-19 insurance, you will not be able to enter St.Maarten.
Why should you buy additional travel insurance to visit St. Maarten?
With St.Maarten requiring all international travelers to obtain the country’s sponsored COVID-19 insurance, we at Trawick International recommend that all travelers should also purchase additional travel insurance. Our Trip Cancellations plans offer benefits for trip delay and trip interruption and on select plans, we offer the Cancel for Any Reason Benefit. These additional benefits could provide vital protection if something unforeseen were to happen while traveling to St.Maarten.
Do the trip cancellation plans from Trawick International cover COVID-19?
Yes, our plans treat COVID-19 like any other sickness. To learn more about how Trawick International travel insurance plans provide coverage for Covid-19 related concerns, please visit our COVID-19 FAQ webpage.
Optional Cancel for Any Reason coverage:
On select trip cancellation plans, Trawick International offers the hard to find Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) benefit that provides reimbursement for 75% of the prepaid, nonrefundable, forfeited payments you paid for your trip if you cancel your trip for any reason not otherwise covered by this policy - like border closures or travel bans. This coverage MUST be purchased with the initial policy and within 21 days of the initial trip deposit date, and the full, nonrefundable trip cost is insured. (This benefit is not available in every state).
How much does travel insurance cost?
Several factors determine the cost of travel insurance, such as your age, trip cost, length of trip, and other factors. When purchasing a plan with trip cancellation, we recommend that you include all non-refundable travel expenses so you can recover the investment in the event your trip is canceled or interrupted. By bundling all of your trip costs into one policy, you will be able to obtain the most coverage possible for your trip.
When should you buy travel insurance?
To maximize your benefits, you should insure your trip within 21 days of the initial trip deposit date and include all prepaid, nonrefundable trip costs. You can still purchase travel insurance after 21 days, but you may not be eligible for time-sensitive benefits such as CFAR or Financial Default.
Does this plan cover mandatory COVID testing to reenter the USA?
Effective January 26, 2021, all travelers flying into the United States will need to show a negative COVID-19 test before reentering the country. Airlines will be responsible for confirming the negative test results for all passengers before they board a flight to the United States. The cost of this mandatory test is not a covered benefit under any of our travel insurance plans. If a traveler does not receive the test results in time, this would not be a covered travel delay/trip interruption benefit. Travelers need to make sure to plan accordingly to make sure their results will be received before their flights are scheduled to depart. In the event someone has a positive test, there could be travel delay coverage available to cover costs for additional accommodations due to quarantine.
