Travel Insurance for the Most Extreme Travelers

Trawick International has teamed up with DOGTAG® to offer travel insurance for adventure sport travelers to cover more than 500 different sports and activities.

DOGTAG® has been providing travel insurance to adventurers in the United Kingdom since 1999. Having a team full of adventure travelers, they understand what is needed out of a travel insurance company such as affordability, 24/7 emergency assistance services and coverage on even the most extreme sports. DOGTAG® was founded because one insurance did not cover all of the necessary sports for adventure travel. DOGTAG® proudly covers over 500 different sports and activities.

Trawick International has stepped in to bridge the gap for United States customers. Residents of the United States will now be able to purchase DOGTAG® travel insurance through when traveling 100 miles or more from home and will be covered for accidents 24/7 during their trip.

In addition to travel insurance protection for almost every sport imaginable, travelers will also receive a personalized stainless steel dogtag that carries their name and unique DOGTAG® identity number, so carrying around paperwork is unnecessary. The dogtag also has DOGTAG®’s 24/7 Emergency Assistance contact details and access to the travelers own vital emergency information, in case of a misadventure.

Trawick International offers four DOGTAG® branded plans that are available for US customers. These plans range from the most basic level of coverage to the most extreme, covering sports such as parasailing, BMX racing, ice diving and many more. For a list of all covered sports, please visit .

With rates ranging from $99 to $219 for trips up to 30 days and $241 to $495 for trips up to 180 days, you will not find a comparable insurance plan for adventure travel.

“From the Everglades to Everest and everything in between, one plan will offer coverage for 500+ sports and peace of mind during your travels. DOGTAG® is your most important piece of equipment for your next adventure,” said Curt Carlson, Trawick International Senior Vice President.

“If you’re an adventure enthusiast like I am then you know how difficult it can be to find a quality insurance plan that specifically names your sport. DOGTAG® does that and so much more. With trip cancellation, search and rescue and sports equipment coverage all included, there is no need to look any further for a better adventure travel insurance plan.”

Do I Need Travel Insurance?

Do I Need Travel Insurance?

In one word: YES. Let us break it down for you why travel insurance is not only necessary, but essential for your upcoming trip.

Travel insurance can provide you with medical coverage if you get injured or sick, and it can also reimburse you if your expensive camera, tablet, smartphone, etc. is broken or stolen. If you need to return home, if a family member becomes sick or injured or if your flight is cancelled, travel insurance can and will save the day.

The deal with travel insurance is, most people don’t know how inexpensive it can be to get a broad range of coverage. It can cost as little as a few dollars per day.

Nobody PLANS for something bad to happen, but yet we have insurance for a lot of other things in our lives such as car insurance and home insurance. Insurance is there to protect you when something does go wrong and without it, you are susceptible to a lot of unnecessary risks.

So, I know what you’re thinking, you’ve been on dozens of trips without travel insurance and you have been completely fine. Well think about it this way, how many times do you get in your car and travel without an accident? More times than not, right? So the one time you DO have an accident, and you have insurance, would be worth the cost of the insurance the entire time, right? A totaled car can cost A LOT of money, and medical bills in a foreign country can triple that of a totaled car.

Not only can it give you a little peace of mind while on your trip, but Trawick International can also guide you to a good physician, help assist with your emergency return to your home country, cover your lost and/or stolen items and cover your cancelled flights or pay for your hospital bills.

Our “Get a Quote” feature on our website is very easy to use and understand, and out customer service team is always only one phone call away to answer any questions you may have or help you pick out the best plan for your trip.

If you are going on a trip soon, we highly recommended looking into purchasing a travel insurance plan. It’s always better to be safe than sorry! Travel with Trawick and you will Travel Safe and Travel Smart.

Travel Tip Tuesday: What to Pack in Your Carry-On

1. Headphones

For listening to music, watching a movie or drowning out the snoring man next to you, headphones are a necessary part of any flight.

2. Water

Staying hydrated is so important when it comes to traveling, especially on those long flights. You don’t want to start your trip off on the wrong foot! Keep an extra bottle of water with you at all times.

3. Portable Phone Charger

Whether you are using your phone to listen to music, or browsing Facebook during your flight, chances are that it will drain your battery life. Packing a portable charger will ensure that your phone will never be dead (as long as you make sure to charge it)!

4. Change of Clothes

Bringing a change of clothes is always a good idea just in case something happens to your luggage, you won’t be stuck in the same dirty clothes. It is also a good idea to bring a change of clothes with you in case your flight is cold and you need to bundle up more!

5. Snacks

Airplanes do offer snacks most of the time, but they are usually loaded with sodium. Pack extra snacks for yourself to avoid bloating and feeling bad!

6. Toiletries

It’s always a good idea to throw a hair brush, tooth brush and toothpaste and maybe even some dry shampoo in your carry on. You may arrive to your hotel before your check in time and these can come in handy when you need to freshen up after a long flight!

7. Reading Material

Investing in a good book for your flight can be a game changer. If you’re one of those people who just cannot fall asleep on a flight, diving into a good book can make time go by so much faster.

These are just a few of our most important items to include in your carry-on bag. If you have a go-to item that you always include in your carry-on let us know what it is by leaving a comment below! We would love to hear from you.

Make the Most of Your Holiday Travel with These Apps and Websites

What are some of your favorite apps to help you avoid the holiday travel headaches? If you aren’t using smartphone apps, you may be missing out on many opportunities to streamline your travel and make things much easier. Here are some examples.

Find a nicer seat. SeatGuru will display a map of the plane’s cabin and you can potentially avoid having to sit in the middle. Use it along with the website and set up alerts to be notified when a seat happens to open up. You can choose something like “any aisle seat” and you’ll receive an email as soon as it becomes available.

Get all necessary information in one place. GateGuru is essentially the Swiss Army knife of travel, providing a breadth of information including real time TSA wait times, virtually instant notifications on flight delays or a gate change, and even a map so you can find out where to eat while you wait.

Stay in a lounge for less. Even if you aren’t a business traveler or if your seating includes economy, LoungeBuddy will allow you to purchase access to the VIP lounge at hundreds of airports around the world. Best of all, you won’t have to deal with memberships, extra fees, or any of the extra fuss.
