Things To Know About Costa Rica Before You Visit

Costa Rica is a country located in Central America that is ranked as one of the most visited international destinations. Costa Rica is a land of volcanoes, rainforests and cloud forests, huge waterfalls, and mighty rivers. This incredible natural setting makes it difficult to decide between the various activities it offers, including rafting, windsurfing, diving, kayaking, recreational fishing, and surfing.

If you are not into adventure tourism, don’t worry.  Costa Rica has some of the most beautiful beaches on both the Pacific Ocean and in the Caribbean Sea. There are over 600 beaches to visit in Costa Rica. The Caribbean region stands out for its variety of marine life and its white sand and black sand beaches.  While visiting the beaches you can try surfing, diving in clear water, basking in the sun, and hiking along the coast.  Maybe you are interested in the environment.  If so, Costa Rica's territory is divided into 29 national parks, 19 wildlife refuges, eight biological reserves.

Now that you have heard about all of the terrific sites and adventures Costa Rica has to offer, it’s time to book a trip and enjoy it.  Just remember Costa Rica’s government has new requirements for travelers from abroad.  The government of Costa Rica has implemented the following criteria for visitors abroad to comply with before entering the country:

  • Fill out the electronic epidemiological health pass form before departure

  • Not show or experience symptoms associated with COVID-19

  • For international insurance policies, tourists must present certification from their travel insurance company, issued in English or Spanish, verifying the travel protection meets the following three conditions:

    • Effectiveness of the policy during the visit to Costa Rica

    • Includes minimum coverage of $2,000 for Trip Delay if you are delayed in returning home on Your Scheduled Return Date.

Our Safe Travels Voyager travel protection policy has been updated to meet these requirements.  As of October 21, 2020, the Safe Travels Voyager plan is in full compliance with the coverages needed to obtain your travel health pass.  Our travel insurance plan provides up to $100,000 for trip cancellation and includes a $250,000 per person limit for primary medical coverage.
